Independence Township Recreation offers youth basketball for boys and girls grades 1st thru 8th. The program teaches our children the fundamentals of the game of basketball while competing in a team format.
Grades 1st and 2nd are a co-ed league with a clinic style format once a week and one to two games per week. The Season begins in early January, with all games and practices held at the Central School Gymnasium. This level is open to players from all local communities.
Grades 3rd-4th, 5th-6th and 7th-8th all are divided into leagues for girls and boys. These teams compete in the Eastern Warren County Basketball League against teams from Allamuchy, Hackettstown and Liberty. Teams play between 10 and 14 games per season, with practices beginning in November and games starting in early December. These levels is only open to Independence Township residents.
