You can register for our program; on-line or in-person. To register on-line you must first create an account and follow the steps under the registration help tab.  

 

You can register in-person at the Independence Township Municipal Building located at 286-B Route 46 West in Great Meadows, NJ. 

 

Yes, we accept credit card payments. 

 

Checks are made out to: Independence Township Recreation 

 

A resident is considered anyone from a household that's tax municipality is Independence Township. Registrants who come from a household that pays taxes to Liberty, Allamuchy, Hackettstown, or any other municipality are considered non-residents and thus subject to non-resident program fees. 

 

The reason we have different fees for residents and non-residents is due to the fact that the Independence Recreation Department receives funds from property taxes collected from Independence residents. Non-residents do not pay these taxes to our community and thus are required to pay a higher registration fee. 

 

If you have missed the registration deadline you may contact the Recreation Department at 908-246-1348 to attempt to register. Depending on the program and the number of spaces still available or team roster capacity you may be allowed to register or will be put on a waiting list.

 

To request a refund please contact the Independence Recreation Department at indrecsports@independencenj.com or you can go to forms and documents on this web page, print out refund paperwork and return to Independence Recreation Department.

Refunds will be awarded: 14 days or more prior to start of program - FULL REFUND

                                               Less than 14 days prior to start of program - HALF REFUND

                                               After the Start of the program - NO REFUND 

 

 

We offer programs in Field Hockey, Soccer, Basketball (Boys and Girls) and Softball. Lacrosse and Little League Baseball are offered by affiliate programs.  

 

Practices for all outdoor sports are held at the "Field of Dreams" recreation complex, with games in most youth sports leagues being played throughout Warren County. Our basketball program practice in the Central School and Great Meadows Middle School Gymnasiums, with games being played at various schools throughout the Hackettstown sending district.

 

Our programs would not be able to happen if it was not for our volunteers. If you would like to volunteer to coach a team, please complete the volunteer coaches section on the registration form or contact the Independence Recreation Department at indrecsports@independencenj.com.

 

We require that all of our volunteers, coaches and otherwise, to complete a free and private background check.  

 

If a game or practice is canceled due to weather you will be contacted by your child's coach or the Independence Township Recreation Department. You may also check our website or Facebook page to see a weather update on fields and programs.
